Our Work Together
If something in your life just isn’t working the way you
want it to, if you feel that something is missing but you’re not sure what that
is, or you’re just not as on-top-of-it as you’d like to be, this could be the
perfect time for you to consider psychotherapy. In my many years of
experience as a licensed social worker with advanced psychotherapeutic
training, I’ve seen how the therapeutic relationship can transform people’s
lives by giving them the clarity, confidence and contentment necessary to make
smart choices, cultivate meaningful relationships, enjoy their work and create
a life of balance, joy and success.
Am I the right
therapist for you?
The only way to answer that question is for us to meet and
see if we’re a good match. But I can tell you this: when you work with me, you will have 100% of my
attention. You will also have a safe, supportive environment in which
to slow down and explore
what’s true for you.
By listening closely, using my intuition and advanced
training, and asking you questions, I will help you:
- Dig down and
discover the root cause of any discontentment or dissatisfaction you may
- Know your
purpose and what’s important to you so you can align your actions and
- Evaluate your
relationships from a new, clearer perspective and nurture those that
support your happiness and ability to thrive.
- Develop a inner
confidence that allows you to make wise choices, take action without
hesitation and feel self-assured in any situation.
- Shut down any
critical voices that cause you to question your abilities and potential.
- Recognize and
celebrate those moments in your life that are joyous, happy and
- Appreciate and
honor who you are and the life you are creating, without apology or
As an Irish immigrant/expatriate with extensive training in
social work and psychotherapy (as well as 20 years experience in immigration
law and human resources), I bring a lot of personal and professional experience
to my work as a therapist. I know first-hand how tough it can be to work
and succeed in corporate America. And having worked with so many people of
different nationalities, cultures and religions, I know how disconcerting it
can be to feel cut off from your past, your country and feel like a stranger in
a strange land.
A former addict/alcoholic, the opioid epidemic has been a catalyst for me to be more open about my own recovery journey. I have been in recovery for over 18 years with a 12-step abstinence based program as my primary foundation. However, professionally I use a variety of treatment modalities with my patients including harm reduction; medication based treatment (naltraxone, suboxone, naloxone); 12-step programs and any combination of these that can help alleviate suffering. Please refer to my Addiction/Recovery Work page for details on recovery treatment work.

Over the years, my patients have
applauded my passion, knowledge, and therapeutic methods, as outlined in
“Dr. Linda McEvatt is the first
therapist I have been to see. Being nervous about going to a therapist for the
first time, Dr. McEvatt put me at ease immediately. She is very professional,
but has a way of making you feel very comfortable as if you were talking to a
friend. She is not pushy in the sense of making you talk about or do things
that make you feel uncomfortable, but at the same time will challenge you in a
positive way. I have continued to see Dr. McEvatt weekly now, and I would
highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist.”
“Linda is such a great listener and
really helped me learn and grow. Her empathy and ability to break through old
barriers was particularly useful. She is also comfortable to be with, and put
me at ease right away. I highly recommend Linda.”
“I was very hesitant because I had not
seen a therapist before and I don't want to be seeing a therapist for years and
years. I have to say that Linda's approach as so many others have posted about
was open and warm. From the time she opened the door, shook my hand and
welcomed me, I knew it was going to be all right. Even though this was only a
first session, I left with some little strategies that I will use immediately
every day to help reduce my anxiety. I've committed to going back for 2 months
on a weekly basis and we'll evaluate where I am at then. I feel a great sense
of relief, but most importantly I feel confident that she'll be able to really
